Advances Leadership in Agriculture
Kemptville, ON – January 10, 2022 – Grenville Mutual Insurance Company is proud, once again, to support the next generation of leaders in agriculture through Algonquin College’s Business–Agriculture Diploma Program.
A $2,500 award will be given later this spring to the graduate in this two–year program, who best achieves academic success while demonstrating leadership qualities in pursuit of a business in the agribusiness sector. This student will be well–rounded— reaching academic success, exhibiting leadership qualities, and contributing to success of future students enrolled in this program.
“We strongly believe in supporting the communities where we do business, and agribusiness is a core to what we do. This partnership aligns with our values—to be involved in a program that supports the people who will be instrumental in making communities thrive in the future,” commented Pam Marson, President and CEO of Grenville Mutual.
“Today’s farmers and agribusiness owners need a broad range of skills: excellent risk management skills, technical know–how of their chosen sector, financial analysis methods, strong communication skills, and the ability to solve problems in the face of uncertainty. We’re committed to preparing the next generation for this reality,” said Shaun Barr, Academic Chair, Perth Campus.
Grenville Mutual is one of several local businesses supporting the program, not only with a financial award but with learning resources and subject matter experts. “We feel very fortunate to have companies like Grenville Mutual support the program, because it gives students real–life exposure to the very challenges they will face when they start, grow or scale a business,” added Martin Savard, Coordinator, Business–Agriculture at the Perth Campus.
The recipient of the 2021 Grenville Mutual Leadership Award will be announced in June 2022.
